This site uses Matomo, an open-source web-analytics tool that we run on our own server (matomo.noobyia.com). Analytics data stays on our own infrastructure and is not shared with, or sent to, any third party.
Matomo is configured for privacy:
· It is cookieless — no cookies are set on your device, so no consent banner is required.
· IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
· Only aggregate usage is recorded: pages viewed, the referring site, approximate region, and clicks on outbound links.
Verify on the Matomo server that IP anonymisation is enabled (Administration → Privacy → Anonymize data). If you also enable “respect DoNotTrack,” state that here.
The analytics processing rests on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR) in understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used. Because the processing is cookieless and IP-anonymised, its impact on your rights is minimal. You may object to this processing at any time (see “Your rights” below).
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft company). When you visit, GitHub’s servers necessarily process connection data such as your IP address and browser type in their server logs, as a technically required part of delivering the page. See GitHub’s privacy statement at docs.github.com/site-policy.
This site links to third-party services — Amazon (Kindle) for the book and GitHub for the curriculum. Once you follow such a link, the destination’s own privacy policy applies; we have no control over their processing.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and to object to processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the email above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at).
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the site or in applicable law. Last updated: [ date ].
